Compare with pros
Which pros your stroke looks like, which one is your best model and how to watch them side by side, synced phase by phase and with the ghost.
On this page
Racketlens has a library of 90 strokes by 21 pros, filmed at real speed (nearly all at 60 frames per second), most from behind and some from the side or in front. See which ones your stroke resembles, which one suits you as a model, and put it next to yours, synced moment by moment.
Three ways in#
- From Session: after the scan, Compare with … opens your model next to your typical stroke. The quickest.
- From Shots: the two-columns icon on any stroke opens it next to your model for that kind of stroke.
- From Pros: to choose the stroke, the pro and the angle yourself, step by step (below).
The Pros tab#
- Pick your stroke. In the strokes bar under the video, or with ◀ ▶ at the top of This stroke. For a moment with no detected hit, put the playhead just before the swing and press I, and just after the follow-through and press O.
- Open This stroke → Pros. Stroke follows the kind of stroke you picked: one-handed backhand, two-handed backhand, forehand or serve.
- Say where the camera was. Your camera: Side, Behind or Front. Pros filmed from the same side come first.
- Press Find my closest pros. You get the list of pros with a match percentage and the main differences, e.g. “At contact your hitting arm is more bent than Federer’s”.
To compare another stroke of the same video, move the playhead to it and press again: the button now reads Find my closest pros for the stroke at 0:08 and selects the stroke there by itself (or the 2 seconds around the playhead). Select the stroke at the playhead changes the selection without comparing yet. Do it with as many strokes as you like. 5. Compare. Compare with … (…) opens that stroke next to yours, both paused at contact.
Your recommended model#
Every pro in the library has an elite stroke, so the question isn’t who’s best but who’s the best model for you: whose stroke clearly shows what you’re missing, with a style close enough to yours that you don’t rebuild everything.
The Recommended model for you card shows:
- Shows your fixes: … and Close to your style: …: high, medium or low.
- Fundamentals to work on: where your stroke falls outside what most pros do, with a drill for each point.
- Don’t copy: their personal style: what sets that pro apart from the others. It’s part of their style, not what makes the stroke work.
- The runner-up, in case you’d rather have another model.
Plan to get there#
Plan to get there asks the AI coach for a plan: it checks honestly whether that model suits your level (Good fit, Workable or Poor fit) and lays out 2 to 4 steps, each with the change, why, a drill and how to check it on video. It takes 30 to 90 seconds and counts as one of the month’s AI requests (see AI coach).
The Compare view#
Compare (top bar) puts two videos side by side. When you compare with a pro, everything is ready: both videos synced at three phases (end of backswing or racket drop, contact and finish), paused at contact.
The tool rail on the left serves both videos: the tool, colour and skeleton apply to both, and zoom and snapshot to the one you last clicked. The bar at the bottom says how they line up (e.g. Synced in 3 phases) and has play both, step a frame, the speed and Export. Click the sync state to adjust it. Each video also has its own controls under it; its speed shows only when the videos are independent.
- Linked / Independent: when linked, playing and stepping move both videos together.
- Step frame by frame (← →): each step moves the video with fewer frames per stroke and the other jumps to the matching moment, even when one is slow motion and the other isn’t. You always see the same moment of the stroke on both.
- Play both: the stroke that takes longer on screen plays at the chosen speed and the other slows down to match.
- Sync here (under the sync state): if the sync looks off, step both to the same moment (contact, say) and press it. Do it again at another moment of the stroke (the finish) to match the tempo too. Reset tempo keeps only the main point.
The ghost#
Ghost draws the pro’s skeleton over your body, at the same moment of the stroke and fitted to your size. You see at a glance where your arm, trunk or legs differ.
- Align by: Hips puts their hips on yours (compares body and arm shapes); Feet stands them on your ground (also shows who gets lower).
- Opacity is adjustable, and the ghost flips by itself when the pro hits the other way (you can flip it too).
- It needs the videos synced.
Compare two of your own videos#
The same view works for your before and after. In Compare, on the right-hand side: Open video, Same video, another moment or Or one of your cloud strokes. Then step each side to contact and press Sync here. From the history, Watch side by side opens two sessions already synced.

At the bottom of the Pros tab, the library for the chosen stroke is a table: a row per pro and a column per camera (Side, Behind, Front). Each number is a clip: press it to open it next to yours (Compare with yours).
Each clip is a real-speed practice rally of 8 to 25 seconds with several strokes. It opens paused at the contact of its main stroke, the one synced with yours, but you can step frame by frame through the whole rally and see the other strokes too. The clips come from public YouTube videos; credit goes to the channel linked with ↗ above the clip in Compare.
