Shots
The Shots tab, stroke by stroke: the rallies found by sound, your recognised strokes, how to fix them and how to upload them to the cloud.
On this page
The Shots tab shows what the scan does under the hood, stroke by stroke. Use it to jump between rallies, check each stroke, fix what was recognised wrong and upload strokes to your account.
Rallies: hits by sound#
When you open a video with sound, Racketlens listens to the whole audio track for the “pop” of the racket on the ball. It doesn’t look at the picture, which is why it’s fast: a 2-hour video takes about a minute.
- The result reads … hits in … rallies. Hits less than 4.5 seconds apart form a rally.
- Play rallies only (R) skips the dead time while playing.
- Click a rally to jump to it, or Loop this rally to watch it again and again.
- Shift+← and Shift+→ jump to the previous or next hit.
Sensitivity#
Hits that aren’t hits (voices, other courts)? Lower the Sensitivity. Soft shots missing? Raise it. The change is instant.
Your strokes#
The session scan already recognises your strokes; you can also do it here with Recognise my strokes. The app tracks your body at each hit to tell your backhands (one- or two-handed), forehands and serves apart, and from your opponent’s shots, and lists them by kind.
On each stroke:
- Click to jump to it and make it your stroke for This stroke (Pros, AI coach, Body). It’s the same as picking it in the strokes bar under the video.
- The two-columns icon opens it next to a pro (your model for that stroke, or your closest pro), side by side and synced.
- The cloud icon uploads it to your account (see below).
Missing hits#
A hit missing, or a video without sound? Put the playhead on the contact and press Mark a hit here (H) (or H). The hit shows in the strokes bar and in this list, and the scan uses it. Remove the nearest marked one takes it out.
Fixing mistakes#
Recognition is right about 9 times in 10. To fix it:
- The stroke-type menu changes it if it was recognised wrong (say, a forehand that was a backhand).
- The × (Not my stroke) removes it: it was someone else’s, or not a stroke.
- Others lists the rest: your opponent’s hits, the ones you removed with the × and the ones that couldn’t be recognised. If one is yours, pick its type in the menu and it moves to its list.
After fixing, the Session tab tells you your strokes changed: press Scan again to update the score.
Step by step#
Each stroke has a Step by step button. Open it and the stroke is split into five phases, each with its video frame, its measurements and a score against what pros do.
The phases depend on the stroke:
- Serve: Toss, Trophy, Drive (the racket drops behind your back), Contact and Finish.
- Forehand and backhands: Unit turn, Backswing, Forward swing, Contact and Finish.
What you see on the card:
- Five chips, one per phase, with its score. The colour follows the score (green 75 or more, amber 55 to 74, red under 55) and the weakest one is open (one without ~, when there is one). Click a chip, or use ← and →, to go to that phase’s frame: the video pauses on it.
- The measurements drawn on the video: arcs at the joints, the trunk’s tilt, how far in front of your body contact is. Turn them off with Draw the measurements on the video; the regular skeleton and joint angles are independent.
- A list of measurements with your value and the pros’ range: green when you’re inside it, amber when you’re close (within one typical variation) and red when you’re outside.
- Approximate (~). A phase with ~ was found by a fallback rule, or at the edge of what the app looks at (say, the stroke started when you were already turning). The frame may be a little off: look at it before trusting its score. A ~ phase is never the one What to work on names.
- Hidden joints. A measurement isn’t shown when a joint it’s taken from is hidden in that frame (behind your body, out of the picture). A phase with nothing left says Can’t see it well and has no score; the others carry on.
What to work on#
Below the measurements, What to work on names the weakest phase and the measurement furthest outside the range, with your number and the pros’ range. It offers drills for that phase (add them to your plan) and the Ask the AI coach about this phase button, which opens the AI coach tab with the goal already written and that phase’s measurements and frame. Nothing is sent until you press analyse. If you don’t send it, or the analysis fails, the goal and the phase stay ready for the next try.
When the phases couldn’t be scored (the pro library didn’t load, or too few pro strokes of that kind are analysed), the box says so instead of telling you everything is fine.
A stroke that hasn’t been analysed yet#
If the stroke doesn’t come from a scan, the card analyses it on the spot: it follows your body for a few seconds around the hit, with progress and a button to stop. If something fails (your body isn’t visible, or it isn’t a stroke), it says so and you can Try again. Like the scan, it rejects what isn’t a stroke.
Markers#
Save moments worth reviewing: a great forehand, a double fault. Press + Mark this moment or M, pick the shot type and write a note. Markers count for Shift+← and Shift+→ too.
Cloud strokes#
A stroke you upload stays in your account: open it on any device and compare it with strokes from other sessions. It’s a clip of a few seconds, apart from the session’s full video, which your account keeps separately while uploading is on (see Your sessions on any device).
- Pick what to upload. The cloud icon on a stroke, Upload all (…) for every stroke in the list, or the cloud icon on the playback bar when you have an In–Out selection.
- Pick how. Real speed keeps 30 frames per second; Every frame keeps the whole slow motion (bigger file). You can include the skeleton, angles and drawings.
- Press Upload. The stroke is encoded on your computer as a 720p MP4 (about 1–4 MB) and uploaded. Keep the tab open until it finishes.
Your uploaded strokes show up under Cloud strokes on the home screen, in Compare’s right-hand side (Or one of your cloud strokes) and in the history’s stroke collection. When you scan while signed in, your typical stroke of each kind is uploaded by itself.
